Malcolm Grinstead

I have been a school governor at Easington Academy since September 2015 and have lived in the area for the past 40 years. I am very proud of the school and I am delighted to be part of a great team serving the interests of local children. I am also a school governor at Shotton Hall Primary School.

Originally from Essex I left school to join the Army serving as a physical training instructor and member of The Army Youth Team.  Having left the Army in 1977 I began a career in Leisure Management and have managed the local sports and leisure centres for 37 years. I have worked in both the public and private sectors. I am now semi- retired still working in the leisure industry carrying out quality assessments across the country. I am pleased to be in a position where I can use my experience and skills to assist the teaching staff for the benefit of the school children.

I am married to a university lecturer and have one daughter who achieved outstanding academic results at one of our local schools. My daughter also achieved a first class degree and a distinction in her Masters degree due to the excellent start she was given in secondary education.
This is an exciting time for our school and I look forward to a successful future for Easington Academy.
