DofE practice expedition success!

A group of Year 9 students have just returned from an action-packed weekend completing their Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition.

On day one, the students walked over eight miles along Teesdale Way carrying their full kit, before returning to The Hub to pitch their tents independently and cook a nutritious meal on the camp stoves.

Students were up bright and early the next day to cook a nutritious breakfast before taking their tents down and venturing on another five mile walk with full kit. This time they had to walk most of the route independently without support from staff; using their pre-prepared route cards and mapping skills to navigate the route back to base - which they all did successfully.

Students worked together to support each other within their groups and were all fantastic. Well done Year 9.

Next up we have our qualifier expedition which will be completed independently at Broomley Grange in July 2018. Good luck.
