SMSC and #WorldReady (PSHE)

Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) learning cuts across the whole school through every lesson. It helps us to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the wider world by learning about the beliefs, cultures, difficulties and needs of other people. This in turn helps everyone to develop greater consideration, care and empathy for the world around them.

At Easington Academy we recognise that a student's personal development plays an important role in their ability to learn and achieve. Social, moral, spiritual and cultural (SMSC) themes permeate our curriculum, assemblies and our Get set, go! #WorldReady (PSHE) programmes.

#WorldReady (PSHE)

Our #WorldReady (PSHE) programme is delivered in weekly 40 minute sessions focused on pertinent topics for each year group. Students also receive SMSC education in pastoral time every morning through our ‘Get set, go!’ programme that includes debating, respecting others’ opinions, democracy, and modern examples of SMSC linked to current affairs.

Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) content is also delivered in assemblies throughout the year as well as inviting in guest speakers such as the NHS, the Police, Fire Service, local vicar and the NSPCC.

Our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum is also delivered through assemblies, tutor time and within our #WorldReady (PSHE)lessons.
