A group of students from Years 9 and 10 took part in the first stage of the Springboard FutureChef yesterday, held at the Academy.
Springboard FutureChef is a national competition, of four stages, aimed at students aged 12-16 to inspire them to cook using industry skills.
Congratulations to winners Keira Merrington who wowed the judges with an impressive crème brûlée served with shortbread and strawberries and Erin Wilson who served a delightful cherry lattice pie with homemade vanilla ice cream.
Keira and Erin progress to the next stage and will now begin to plan their two-course meal, with a budget of £7, for the local finals in Darlington.
Well done to all who took part in this competition you were all fantastic - the DT department are very proud!
