Today we are celebrating another year of outstanding achievement at Easington Academy!
The Class of 2026 achieved a spectacular set of GCSE results, building on our school's previous success. The remarkable outcomes are a fitting reflection of an impressive year group, whose hard work, determination and resilience have paid off!
This morning, students, parents, carers and staff came together to celebtrate these fantastic achievements. We are so proud of the strong partnership we build with parents/carers and these achievements show what can be accomplished when we work together.
In addition to our strong school performance, there were many individual success stories to celebrate, including:
Niamh, who achieved an incredible five Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and two Grade 7s, and will go on to study chemistry, biology and French at Durham Sixth Form.
Abigail, who secured four Grade 9s and four Grade 8s and two Grade 7s, and is looking forward to studying English language, media and maths at Durham Sixth Form.
Casey who achieved six Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and one Grade 7, and will study biology, psychology and English literature at New College Durham.
Imogen, who earned two Grade 9s, a D*2, five Grade 8s and two Grade 7s, and is excited to continue her studies in criminology, geography and media at Durham Sixth Form.
Speaking of the sudents' success, our Headteacher, Nicola Falconer, said:
“At our Year 11 leavers’ assembly, I described this cohort as a unique, determined and inspiring year group who have faced challenges that no other cohort has had to face and congratulated them on doing this with courage and determination. This year group have made an incredible contribution to our school and have left a lasting impression on both staff and students alike. I am absolutely delighted to see their hard work, commitment and perseverance rewarded with such fantastic results.
These achievements have not happened by chance. They are the result of determination, ambition, teamwork and the strong relationships that exist between our students, staff and families.
I feel incredibly privileged to lead a team of staff who are dedicated to ensuring every young person receives the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to succeed. On behalf of our students and their families, I would like to thank every member of staff for their unwavering commitment and the difference they make every day.
Today belongs to the Class of 2026. You should be immensely proud of everything you have achieved. As you move on to the next stage of your journey, whether that be sixth form, college, apprenticeships, employment or another pathway, remember that your future is full of possibility.
Be ambitious. Embrace challenges. Learn from setbacks and keep striving for your goals. Every experience, both positive and difficult, helps shape the person you are becoming. We have every confidence that you will go on to achieve great things.
The future is yours to create, and I have no doubt that you will make it extraordinary.”
