Fire safety

Following the tragic Grenfell Tower incident, fire safety is now more than ever at the front of our minds. The Trust carry out and commission regular duties in compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, to ensure the safety of pupils and staff and visitors at each of our sites.

This includes conducting fire risk assessments, automatic fire alarm system tests, evacuation drills and sprinkler system tests (at our Shotton Hall & Easington sites). We take advice from, fire specialist, health & safety professionals at Durham County Council in respect of best practice when reviewing our processes and are working with the Department for Education to ensure that any future recommendations made in the light of the ongoing investigations may be quickly acted upon if necessary.
