After a successful five years playing together, our brilliant Year 11 boys football team were defeated in the county cup final by Hurworth School at Maiden Castle.

After outstanding performances in the earlier rounds, the team faced Hurworth School in the final leg of the competition last week.

The boys dominated the first half and took the lead with a fantastic left foot volley by Josh Dickinson after a good approach play from Josh Greenfield and Tom Lawson. The boys continued to dominate and spurned two good chances just before half-time that led to a 1-0 score at the break.

The second half was much closer with both teams wasting good opportunities. Hurworth equalised mid-way through the second half, after Easington failed to clear. Easington's hearts were broken at the last minute, when a shot from the edge of the area was deflected over goalkeeper Bradley Young to give Hurworth a 2-1 victory.

The boys have been superb over the last five years, reaching two county cup finals, a semi-final and an excellent run in the national competition.

Well done boys.
